I often hear about how AI is going to replace assistants, and that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Just like the internet changed how people booked travel, AI will change the travel industry and many others, and already is.
What I’ve found is that while AI does help us be more efficient and help us gather our thoughts, it doesn’t replace the human element or our assistants. Ultimately, your assistant can help you leverage AI effectively and help you come up with content ideas that reflect YOUR brand and YOUR voice.
The hardest part is not letting your voice get lost in the mix.
AI doesn’t know your clients. While it has some capability to learn who you serve and impact the more it gets to know your business, it doesn’t truly know that the Smiths have very specific needs when they travel. Sure it might figure out and remember that their youngest son has food allergies and make recommendations based on that, but it doesn’t know every detail like you do. Even if you tell it, AI isn’t perfect and it often forgets (just like humans do).
The reality is, AI can never CARE as much as you do. Your assistant (because they’re human) has the emotional capacity and understanding to also be able to start remembering these details, especially the more you invest in them personally and professionally. AI doesn’t care how much you interact with it, but your assistant will feel VALUED the more you interact with them and grow your trust in their capabilities.
We can’t lose the human element in travel. And the best clients for us want the human connection and to know someone real is behind their travel, not just some algorithm that has decided what is best for them.
This is the beauty of being a travel advisor. Bringing the human touch to everything we do for our clients. The right assistant will AMPLIFY that touch and make us even better!
